SUBJECT:
A Resolution to accept the quote from De Kane Equipment Corporation, 47W619 U.S. Rt 30, Big Rock, IL 60511 to purchase two Kubota RTV-X1140WL-H Utility Vehicle for the Aurora Police Department, recommended to the Public Health, Safety and Transportation Committee on 11/26/2019.

PURPOSE:
To secure two Kubota RTV-X1140WL-H Utility Vehicles for the Aurora Police Department. These Utility Vehicles would be utilized for various police functions, to include but not limited to; patrolling Downtown Aurora locations, special events, tactical response, off road locations, walking / bicycle paths in and around the downtown boundaries. These Utility Vehicles can also be used to carry equipment and personnel to remote locations, where police vehicles cannot drive.

BACKGROUND:
Over the years the City of Aurora has increased in population, size and increased the number of downtown events as well as city events in general. The Aurora Police Department has adapted to the changing environment by utilizing various methods of patrol and patrol vehicles (ie: bicycles and Segways) but with an increasing number of festivals, concerts and parades; not to mention the expansion of River Edge Park, the police department needs vehicles capable of carrying personnel and equipment in remote locations. In recent years the Aurora Police Department has borrowed Utility Vehicles from EMA, neighboring departments and golf carts from COA Downtown Events. The issue with these barrowed Utility Vehicles is they are not police vehicles, equipped with police equipment, emergency lighting or police markings. Utilizing a Utility Vehicle (specifically equipped for police) would extremely beneficial to the Aurora Police Department.

DISCUSSION:
