SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.

PURPOSE:
To increase the number of Class G - Package Beer and Wine licenses to 15.

BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.

DISCUSSION:
Marmion Abbey, d/b/a Abbey Farms, located at 2855 Hart Road, has submitted a liquor license application for a Class G license for the purpose of selling to the general public beer and wine in original packages only, for consumption off the premises. The applicant currently has a Class K liquor license at the location for catering and would like to begin selling beer and wine at the existing market onsite.

Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the licenses by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business representatives to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am requesting this resolution be forwarded by the Public Health, Safety and Transportation Committee to the Tuesday, August 20, 2019 Committee of the Whole Meeting for consideration.
