body

PURPOSE:

A religious festival celebration held indoors and will culminate in chariot and walk along.

BACKGROUND:

The event for was held for 7 years on the block of the sponsor organizations previous location bounded by May St., Gale St. Garfield St., and Hardin St.  The sponsor organization moved last year to a new location on Church Rd and held the indoor part of the event there and the chariot walk along on Corporate Blvd.  170 people participated last year.

DISCUSSION:

Although the sponsor organization submitted a route map to use Church Rd. for the chariot walk along similarly to last year, it is being recommended that Corporate Blvd be used again this year.  The sponsor organization is expecting 200 participants this year and 25 staff/volunteers to help.  The sponsor organization is responsible for costs associated with holding this proposed event.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

City services are being requested from the Aurora Police Department Traffic Control Division, and the Street Maintenance Division for barricades.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for review/approval.
