SUBJECT:
Resolution Authorizing the Purchase of One (1) 2017 Wheeled Coach Ford F-450 Type I Ambulance in the Amount of $241,695.00 from Fire Service Inc for the Aurora Fire Department.

PURPOSE:
To purchase one (1) 2017 Wheeled Coach Ford F-450 Type I ambulance, from Fire Service Inc. to replace a 2010 ambulance that has reached the end of its frontline service life as recommended by Equipment Services.

BACKGROUND:
The Aurora Fire Department routinely replaces vehicles that have exceeded their service life for a frontline vehicle as recommended by Equipment Services. Medic 5 which is a 2010 ambulance was recommended for replacement in the 2017 COA budget process, but its replacement was not funded. As a result of favorable pricing on the aerial platform authorized for the 2017 budget, there are available funds remaining that AFD requests to utilize to replace Medic 5.

DISCUSSION:
Fire Service Inc. is the area dealer for the Wheeled Coach brand ambulance. The City of Aurora purchased two Wheeled Coach ambulances from Fire Service Inc. in February of 2017.The Fire Service contract with the City of Aurora contains language that allows the right to add additional units to that contract. We request the ability to exercise this right and purchase an additional ambulance based on that language. Funds are available in account 353-3033-422.75-10 for this purchase.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Routine replacement of frontline emergency response vehicles allows for safe and dependable response and provides dependable backup vehicles when frontline units are down for service or maintenance. AFD has discussed this request with the Director of Equipment Services and has received his support.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the finance Committee accept the tag on bid (paragraph 10) from Fire Service Inc. to purchase a 2017 Wheeled Coach, Ford F-450 Type I ambulance from them in the amount of $ 241...
