DATE: February 28, 2017

SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.

PURPOSE:
To maintain the number of Class G - Package Beer and Wine licenses at 15.

BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.

DISCUSSION:
Casa Blanca Supermercado, Inc., d/b/a Casa Blanca Supermercado, located at 770 Claim Street, has submitted a liquor license application for a Class G license for the purpose of selling to the general public beer and wine in original packages only, for consumption off the premises. The applicant currently has a Class G liquor license at the location, however, the ownership structure has changed with two shareholders buying out the third shareholder.

Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the licenses by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business representatives to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am recommending that this resolution be referred to the February 28, 2017 meeting of the Government Operations Committee for consideration.
