A resolution reappointing Marge Linnane, Leticia Morales-Perez, William Powell and Ramona Wood to the Aurora Civil Service Commission.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Civil Service Commission is a five (5) member commission tasked with carrying out the purposes of Chapter 13.5 of the City of Aurora Code of Ordinances. Specifically, the commission is in charge of the general direction and supervision of the classified civil service system in the city, including examinations, appointments and removals.
Currently, there are expired terms on the Commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council approve the reappointments to Aurora's Civil Service Commission.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the Aurora Civil Service Commission has member's with expired terms and;
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that said candidates be reappointed to said commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the reappointments of Marge Linnane, Aurora, IL Leticia Morales-Perez, Aurora, IL William Powell, Aurora, IL and Ramona Wood, Aurora, IL to Aurora's Civil Service Commission.
