body

PURPOSE:

A Traffic Study for Keating Drive between Ione Lane and Royal Court to determine traffic volume and average speeds and consideration of an all way stop.

BACKGROUND:

A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 147006 expressed concern over traffic speeds on Keating Drive.

DISCUSSION:

Keating Drive between Ione Lane and Royal Court is a residential neighborhood roadway with a 25 mph speed limit.  Both sides have curb, gutter and sidewalks. Road width is the standard 29.5-ft.

Traffic counters on Keating Drive between Ione Lane and Royal Court revealed an ADT of 870 VPD.  Speeds were found to be average 27 mph, with a 85th percentile of 32 mph and a median of 27 mph.

This intersection of concern does not meet the minimum volume guidelines for installation of an all way stop MUTCD Chapter 2.  As a reminder, the MUTCD specifically states stop signs are not to be installed to control speed Crash data does not support further investigation.

Based on Traffic Calming Policy, this segment of roadway does marginally qualify for traffic calming.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact at this time.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Staff recommends acceptance of traffic study and denial of all way stop request.
