SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Columbia Street in the 700 block. Ward 2, Alderman Garza.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for Columbia Street in the 700 block to determine average speeds and traffic volume.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 146608 expressing concern for traffic speeds.
DISCUSSION:
Columbia Street is a neighborhood residential roadway with a standard width of 29.5-ft. Parking is allowed on both sides of Columbia Street. Both sides of the roadway have curb and gutters with sidewalks in the parkways. The average mean speed was found to be 24 mph. The 85th percentile is 29 mph, and the mode speed is 24 mph. The ADT is 330 vpd on Columbia Street
.
A review for accidents does not indicate a required mitigation due to crash history. Columba Street is a neighborhood residential street with low volumes.
This segment of roadway does not qualify for traffic calming. Neither the minimum volume nor minimum 85th percentile speed were met.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of Traffic Study.
