PURPOSE:

A Parking Study for 717 Fulton Street for the purpose of determining warrants for a Handicap parking space.

BACKGROUND:

A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 143151 requesting the installation of a Handicap parking space in front of the residence of 717 Fulton Street.

DISCUSSION:

The residence of 717 Fulton Street has a single-lane driveway leading to the rear of the house.  There is space for two cars to park in the driveway comfortably, and possibly three parked carefully, with more space in the back.  There is a lift for wheelchairs by the front porch steps, the walkway leading out to the curb.

Parking restrictions have not been installed on Fulton Street.  The roadway has new curb and gutter, new drive approaches, some new sidewalk, and new asphalt paving.   The roadway is the standard 29.5-ft in with.

The property in question does not meet any of the qualification for handicap parking in a residential area.  As a reminder the following situation are considered qualifying conditions:

A residence with no driveway access or,

A multi family residence where access in and out of existing driveway could be restricted beyond handicap residence control

A condition where special accommodations have been made that necessitate access from street

IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

 Staff recommends denial.
