Sri Jagannath Society Chariot Festival, Saturday July 9, 2016 at 2295 Church Road and Corporate Blvd from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

PURPOSE:
The Sri Jagannath Society is requesting permission to hold a religious ceremony indoors at their facility on 2295 Church Road and will culminate in a chariot journey on Corporate Blvd that will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
BACKGROUND:
The Sri Jagannath Society previously held the religious ceremony for 7 years at their facility on Garfield Ave. in Aurora and would carry out the chariot journey around the block of Garfield, May St., Hardin St., and View St. They have moved to a new location at 2295 Church Road and would like to continue where they are currently located.
DISCUSSION:
The Sri Jagannath Society is expecting 200 participants and 25 staff/volunteers to help with the Chariot Festival. They are responsible for all costs associated with holding this proposed event.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
City services will be needed from the Aurora Police Department Traffic Control Division.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for approval.
