SUBJECT:
A resolution authorizing a memorandum of understanding or MOU with the Kane County Sheriff's Department for the installation of communication equipment on the tower located at the Aurora Police Department 1200 E. Indian Trail.

PURPOSE:
The Kane County Sheriff's Department would like to install equipment at the Aurora Police Department site designed to improve coverage in this area by adding it as an additional receiver site for their communications system.

BACKGROUND:
The Sheriff's Department has receiver sites like this one spread throughout the county. This site would enhance coverage for both Aurora and the surrounding communities. The Aurora Police Department has a long history of collaboration with the Sheriff's Department.

DISCUSSION:
This project is not funded by the City of Aurora.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Improving coverage for their system is in the best interest of everyone involved.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I would ask the members of the Aurora City Council to authorize this memorandum of understanding with the Kane County Sheriff's Department.
