PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for New Castle Lane and Colorado Avenue to determine traffic volume and traffic speeds.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 138498 expressing concern over traffic speeds on Colorado Avenue in the 1000 block.
DISCUSSION:
Colorado Avenue is classified as a Minor Collector, but has a 25 mph speed limit. New Castle Lane is classified as a Residential roadway with a 25 mph speed limit. The intersection has a single Stop sign on New Castle Lane approaching Colorado Avenue.
Traffic counters on Colorado Avenue revealed an ADT of 975 VPD. Speeds were found to be average 24 mph, with a 85th percentile of 29 mph and a median of 24 mph.
Based on Traffic Calming Policy, this segment of roadway does not qualify for traffic calming.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of traffic study.
