SUBJECT:
An Ordinance of the City of Aurora, Illinois, Ascertaining the Prevailing Wage Rate of Wages for Laborers, Mechanics, and other Workers Employed in Public Works Projects.

PURPOSE:
Adopt the annual Prevailing Wage Ordinance, with the Department of Labor's 2015 Wages for DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will Counties. We are using the July 2015 rates for 2016 as these are the most recent rates available at the Department of Labor's site.

BACKGROUND:
The State of Illinois enacted "An Act regulating wages of laborers, mechanics and other workers employed in any public works by the State, county, city or any public body or any political subdivision or by anyone under contract for public works," approved June 26, 1941, as amended, (820 ILCS 130/0.1 et seq.) .

DISCUSSION:
Every year, government organizations like our own are required to establish wage rates for construction projects under our control.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Inability to award contracts for public works projects by failing to adopt said Ordinance.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Place on Finance Committee Calendar (6/1/16 Agenda) for approval to City Council.
