A Resolution appointing Sandeep Londhe and reappointing Roopa Anjanappa, Deepak Mehta, Anupama Setty, Gautam Bhatia, Ashok Easwaran, Girish Kapur and Niveditta Ahuja to the Indian American Community Outreach Advisory Board.
DISCUSSION:
The Indian American Community Outreach Advisory Board (IACOAB) was established in December, 2013. The board was created in response to requests from members of the Indian American community looking to become more involved with the City of Aurora.
The IACOAB was modeled after the City of Aurora's two other cultural/heritage boards, the Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board and the African American Heritage Advisory Board. Similar to the other two boards, the IACOAB provides opportunities to engage members of the Indian American Community (in and outside of Aurora) with the city, in addition to promoting civic engagement at the local level and enhanced communication with the business community. The board has hosted two successful Diwali Festivals and will be hosting Civic Education events as well as Bollywood Movie nights throughout 2016.
The board currently has vacancies and seven terms are in need of renewal.
