PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for N. Highland in the 800 block to determine the need for No Parking signage.
BACKGROUND:
A Representative of Marie Wilkerson Food Pantry at 834 N Highland Avenue submitted ACR Case ID 140905 requesting No Parking signage near the Food Pantry exits and entrances.
DISCUSSION:
The Pantry reports accidents for vehicles entering and leaving the pantry. The standard No Parking restriction on 5-ft. of either side of a standard driveway may have to be increased here due to the large volume of traffic coming in and out of this location. The roadway has a Yellow dashed centerline. N. Highland Avenue is classified as a Major Collector. It has a speed limit of 30 mph. The roadway width is an ample 39-ft. The north entrance is one-way in, and 13-ft in width. The southern entrance, there is an in lane and an out lane totaling 24-ft. in width.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations would be responsible for installing the No Parking signage.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing No Parking Between Signs signage 15 feet each side of exiting drive.
