SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.

PURPOSE:
To establish the number of Class D-3 - Arts and entertainment studio license Class D-1 licenses at 1.

BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.

DISCUSSION:
Fox Valley Music Foundation, dba: The Venue, to be located at 21 S. Broadyway, Aurora, IL 60506, has submitted a liquor license application for a Class D-3 license for the purpose of selling to the general public alcoholic liquor by the drink for consumption on the premises while participating in or attending an arts, crafts, or art and culture related events or performances offered by the licensee.

Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the licenses by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business representatives to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am recommending that this resolution be referred to the April 9, 2019 meeting of the Committee of the Whole for consideration.
