PURPOSE:
To consider possible improvements for pedestrian crossings at the intersection of Thunderbird Court and Middlebury Drive.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted ACR Case ID 77904 expressing concern that vehicles aren't stopping for school busses with flashing red lights and extended arm. The resident recommended refreshing the white paint in the existing pedestrian crosswalks, plus the addition of Pedestrian Crossing signage. The pedestrian striping will be refreshed on the traditional schedule. A pedestrian crossing ahead sign is in place for the northbound traffic. Due to the existing tree line additional pedestrian signs would not be visible. There have been no recorded pedestrian accidents in this area.
DISCUSSION:
The marking for the Pedestrian Crossing are still at about 75% present. There is no Pedestrian Crossing signage. There are four enhanced crosswalks at the intersection.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact per recommendation.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
