SUBJECT:
A Resolution appointing Greg Elsbree and Pedro Gonzales and reappointing Patrick Divine, Shanita Anderson, Donald Pilmer, Mike Reynolds, Ivan Chambers and Yvonne Owusu-Safo to the Aurora Planning Commission.

DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Planning Commission (APC) is a thirteen (13) member commission comprised of At-Large Citizens and representatives of the following entities: Fox Valley Park District, Aurora Township, School Districts 129, 131 and 204 and the Sanitary District. The APC is tasked with hearing and reporting findings and providing recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on all applications for zoning amendments and special use permits.

Greg Elsbree and Pedro Gonzales will replace two long-standing members of the Commission whose terms expired in 2017.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the proposed appointments and reappointments to the Aurora Planning Commission.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and

WHEREAS, the Aurora Planning Commission currently has expired terms; and

WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that the recommended candidates be appointed and reappointed to said commission.
