A Traffic Study for Colfax Avenue and Solfisburg Lane intersection. Ward 7, Alderman Hart-Burns
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for the Colfax Avenue and Solfisburg Lane intersection regarding the need for 4-way STOP signage.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 115102 requesting the two-way STOP at the Colfax Avenue and Solfisburg Lane intersection by changed to a four-way STOP due to the Ohio Street bridge detour which has increased traffic on Solfisburg Lane.
DISCUSSION:
It does not appear that an all-way stop would be ultimately warranted at this location.
However, sound engineering practice does recommend a warrant study during a detour period. In addition, temporary STOP conditions are only recommended in extreme cases.
Staff does not support a temporary all way stop but will investigate an all way stop after the construction.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No action required.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
