The City of Aurora is requesting permission to stage the inaugural Pooch Parade on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Phillips Park.

PURPOSE:
To promote pet adoption while raising awareness of the Aurora Humane Society.
BACKGROUND:
This is a first time event.
DISCUSSION:
The inaugural Pooch Parade will be held at Phillips Park in the Visitors Center/Sunken Garden area. Prizes will be limited to the first 100 entrants in eight (8) categories along with the Shaeffer People's Choice Award named after long time Aurora Veterinarian Dr. Shaeffer. Donations are being requested to support the Aurora Humane Society.
Dogs must be leashed, socialized and current on all vaccinations.
A working/proposed event map is attached.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Special Events will work with both Parks and Animal Control for logistical and promotional support.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
