SUBJECT:
A resolution authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement between the County of Kane and the City of Aurora regarding the widening and replacement of the Jericho Road Bridge over Blackberry Creek in the anticipated amount of $249,000.
PURPOSE:
To authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the aforementioned agreement.
BACKGROUND:
Kane County intends to replace the existing Jericho Road Bridge (Exhibit "B') and replace with a wider structure to facilitate the free flow of traffic and ensure safety to the motoring public. As part of the project City water mains, hydrants, and valves located within the County right-of-way will need to be relocated out beyond the bridge piers and from under the proposed pavement.
DISCUSSION:
In this agreement (Exhibit 'A'), the City will be responsible for the cost of relocating the water utilities and Kane County/ IDOT will be responsible for the cost of the bridge and roadway. The County agrees to make all reasonable efforts to minimize the number of water utility adjustments as part of the project. The preliminary estimated cost for the water main relocation is $249,000 (Exhibit 'C') however the final cost will be based on actual bid prices. The anticipated start date is the summer of 2015. The City has funding for this project in the 2014 budget in IC069 account # 510-4063-511.73-04.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Jericho Road Bridge over Blackberry Creek will be closed to traffic during construction.

Please forward this resolution to the Finance Committee for their review and recommendation for approval.
