Title: A Traffic Study for Colorado Avenue stretching from N. Edgelawn Drive to Timberlake Drive. Ward 5, Alderman Peters
Sponsors: Public Works

FROM:      Eric J. Gallt, City Traffic Engineer

SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Colorado Avenue stretching from N. Edgelawn Drive to Timberlake Drive.  Ward 5, Alderman Peters
body
PURPOSE:
To determine proper STOP signage at the intersections of N. Edgelawn Drive and Colorado Avenue; and Timberlake Drive and Colorado Avenue.

BACKGROUND:
Several Residents submitted ACR Case IDs 100006, 100009,1000012, and 100066 expressing concern regarding traffic speeds on Colorado Avenue from N. Edgelawn Drive to Timberlake Drive.  Residents requested installation of STOP signs to slow drivers down.

DISCUSSION:
Neither of the intersections are controlled (none have STOP or YIELD signage in any direction).

N. Edgelawn Drive and Colorado Avenue would appear to need a single STOP sign on westbound Colorado Avenue approaching N. Edgelawn Drive.

Timberlake Drive and Colorado Avenue would appear to need a STOP sign on southbound Timberlake Drive and Timberlake Court (pvt) approaching Colorado Avenue

Cascade Drive and Rainwood Drive are both private roadways which are No Outlet Courts rather than Drives.

Since the stretch of concern has not been fully developed the area does not qualify for traffic calming at this point.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations will be required to install recommended signage

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing a single STOP sign on Colorado Avenue approaching the N. Edgelawn Road intersection; and installing two-way STOP signs on Timberlake Drive and Court approaching Colorado Avenue.
