A resolution to Award the Sheridan Street Storm and Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project to H. Linden & Sons Sewer and Water, Inc.
PURPOSE:
To provide sewer separation to the watershed and construction of a new sanitary sewer eliminating public sanitary sewer located outside of the Right-of-Way.
BACKGROUND:
Sewer separation was previously completed from the Fox River east up Illinois Avenue to the west end of Mountain Street. New storm sewer will be constructed on Mountain Street east to Sheridan Street and then north to Forest Avenue; preventing surface runoff from entering the combined sewer system. In addition, new sanitary sewer is to be constructed from the Forest Avenue and Sheridan Street intersection north to 820 Church Road. Currently the sanitary services of multiple properties connect to a public sanitary sewer on private property. The proposed improvements will eliminate all connections and public sanitary sewer on private property.
DISCUSSION:
Bids were opened and read aloud on June 29, 2016. The tabulation of the 10 bids received is attached as Exhibit A. The lowest bid, in the amount of $871,774.00 was submitted by H. Linden & Sons Sewer and Water, Inc.
The storm sewer improvements will be funded with account 510-4063-511-73-09 in the amount of $150,000.00 and account 280-1852-512-81-23 in the amount of $505,774.00. The sanitary sewer improvements will be funded with account 510-4063-511-73-14 in the amount of $216,000.00.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The construction of the improvements will cause temporary closures of Mountain Street and Sheridan Street to thru traffic during installation of the storm sewer.
