SUBJECT:
Resolution authorizing the sale of the City's retired vehicles and equipment through JJ Kane Auctioneers.

PURPOSE:
To obtain Council authorization to sell City surplus vehicles through JJ Kane.

BACKGROUND:
The past 10 years, the City of Aurora has sold on average 30 retired vehicles and/ or equipment annually through JJ Kane Auctioneers. This year there will be approximately 50 vehicles that could be sold at JJ Kane's auctions if this resolution is approved.

DISCUSSION:
JJ Kane has a zero commission rate. Most of JJ Kane's auctions are held at their South Beloit, Illinois facility but occasionally their auctions can be held at other locations which provide other opportunities to sell vehicles throughout the year.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proceeds from the sale of vehicles are recorded as revenue in account 101-0000-392.01-00.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council adopts the Resolution authorizing the sale of the City of Aurora's retired vehicles and equipment to JJ Kane Auctioneers.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
