Title: A Parking Study for the 350 block of W. New York Street. Ward 6, Alderman Saville
TO:      Mayor Thomas J. Weisner

FROM:      Eric J. Gallt, City Traffic Engineer

DATE:      February 4, 2015

SUBJECT:title
A Parking Study for the 350 block of W. New York Street.  Ward 6, Alderman Saville
body
PURPOSE:
Consider whether NO PARKING signs are appropriate on the 300 Block of W. New York

BACKGROUND:
Traffic Study 10.105 in October 2010, requested NO PARKING signs in front of 365 W. New York Street.  The city placed Yellow Curb on both sides of the resident's driveway, and has also installed NO PARKING BETWEEN SIGNS extending specifically in front of 365 W. New York Street.  In this latest request (ACR Case ID 170651), the resident is requesting that the NO PARKING be extended for the entire street.  The resident has specific concern with regards to renters parking on the street and not in the driveways provided.

DISCUSSION:
The width of the street is more than 34-ft which is greater the City Ordinance minimum for restricting parking on one side of the road.  The width of the road is adequate for parking on both sides and two travel lanes. Staff has had no other request from residents along this block.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
