The West Aurora High School PTSO is requesting permission to close Downer Pl between Randall Rd and Gladstone and block off the corner of Calumet and W. Galena Blvd for its parade line-up and close streets for the parade route south on Calumet to Garfield; east on Garfield to Fordham; south on Fordham to Kensington; west on Kensington to Calumet; and north on Calumet back to Downer Pl for its Homecoming Parade scheduled for Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

PURPOSE:
The event is a part of the Homecoming week activities and festivities.
BACKGROUND:
The event has been held for many years.
DISCUSSION:
West Aurora High School is responsible for all costs associated with holding this event.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
City services requested include Aurora Police Department Traffic Division that includes a squad car to lead the parade as well as Officers/Cadets as deemed necessary by the APD, Streets Maintenance Division to deliver barricades and signage according to the parade route map and as deemed necessary by the Streets Maintenance Division, for detour of Downer Pl between Randall and Gladstone, and all side streets during the parade. The entire parade route will need to have "No Parking" the evening prior.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for review/approval.
