SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.

PURPOSE:
To maintain the number of Class E-1 - Limited Menu Restaurant licenses. A new business, Dixie's Bistro, LLC d/b/a Dixie's Bistro would like to open in Aurora.

BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.

DISCUSSION:
Dixie's Bistro, LLC d/b/a Dixie's Bistro, to be located at 1515 Butterfield Rd., Unit 111, Aurora, Illinois, 60502 submitted a liquor license application seeking a Class E-1 license for the purpose of selling to the general public alcoholic liquor by the drink for consumption on the premises where sold, and not for resale in any form, provided that such sales shall be only in conjunction with the sale of food for consumption on the premises. A limited menu will be offered between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and closing Sunday through Thursday, and between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and closing on Friday and Saturday.

Dixie's Bistro would be a new restaurant that would be opening at the site of the Nothing But Winers that closed in 2017. The restaurant would feature a menu of breakfast, appetizers, sandwiches, soup, salads and entrees.

Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the license by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business owner to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.
