SUBJECT:
A Resolution to award the Rosedale, Liberty, and Sans Souci Storm Sewer Extensions project to H. Linden & Sons Sewer and Water, Inc., 722 E. South St., Unit D, Plano, IL 60545 located in Wards 5 & 7.

PURPOSE:
To extend storm sewer at three locations to address localized drainage issues at those locations. Location map is included as Exhibit A.

BACKGROUND:
These three locations were brought to the Engineering Division's attention by residents with drainage concerns. Two of the locations, Rosedale Avenue South of W. Illinois Avenue and the Sans Souci Drive Cul-de-Sac just east of Orchard Road are located in Ward 5. The first location occurs at the two south inlets at the Rosedale Avenue and W. Illinois Avenue intersection which receive over 13 acres of tributary flow from as far south as Plum Street. The existing storm sewer on the south side of W. Illinois Avenue is shallow, so constructing new 12" storm sewer 330' south to the Lilac Court is the feasible limit of this extension. Additional inlets with high capacity grates will also be added on the south side of the W. Illinois Avenue intersection to prevent the grates from clogging with tree debris and to prevent ponding at the south intersection radii.

The second Ward 5 location is the Sans Souci Drive Cul-de-Sac. The property owners at 2350, 2360, and 2370 Sans Souci Drive have experienced more frequent ponding along the rear and side yard property lines in recent years. These homeowners have committed to installing storm sewer on their properties and require a storm sewer structure in the R.O.W. at the front of their property to connect to. The curb slope at the proposed structure location is relatively flat and experiences ponding in the curb which can be seen in the condition of the pavement. This additional structure will also improve the drainage of the street.

The third drainage issue i...
