SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for E. New York Street and Commons Drive regarding eastbound NO RIGHT TURN ON RED signage. Ward 10, Alderman Johnson
body
PURPOSE:
To reaffirm the warrants for the existing NO RIGHT TURN ON RED signage.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted ACR Case ID 87691 complaining of having to wait too long to make an eastbound right turn off E. New York Street onto southbound Commons Drive. The resident suggested removing the NO RIGHT TURN ON RED restrictions.
DISCUSSION:
The NO RIGHT TURN OF RED sign went up at the intersection of E. New York Street and Commons Drive some years ago based on intersection geometry and crash history. Since this was originally installed as a safety enhancement based on crash history, staff is unwilling to recommend removal of restriction.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial of request.
