PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for North Avenue and S. East Avenue intersection to investigate the need for 4-way Stop signage.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted PS # 1954371 expressing concern for vehicles on North Avenue speeding through the S. East Avenue intersection, as well as vehicles on S. East Avenue ignoring the Stop sign.
DISCUSSION:
The intersection has a 2-way Stop, with North Avenue having the right of way and vehicles on S. East Avenue having the Stop signs. North Avenue is a narrow 25 to 26-ft in width.
Both North Avenue and S. East Avenues are classified as neighborhood residential roadways. Both have speed limits of 25 mph. The intersection has a 2-way Stop, with North Avenue having the right of way and vehicles on S. East Avenue having the Stop signs.
Traffic counters on North Avenue revealed an ADT of 1,900 VPD. Speeds were found to be average 27 mph, with a 85th percentile of 32 mph and a median of 27 mph.
Crash History on the corridor shows only 2 crashes over three years.
Neither traffic volume nor crash history warrants the installation of an all way stop.

No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
