WHEREAS, Alderman John "Whitey" Peters was elected in April 2003 as the City of Aurora's 5th Ward Alderman; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure, Alderman John "Whitey" Peters served on Planning and Development Committee from 2003 to April 2008, as Chairman of the Building, Grounds and Infrastructure Committee from May 2008 to present, as a member of the Finance Committee from 2011 to present, and as an alternate for the Planning and Development Committee from May 2008 to 2011; and

WHEREAS, Alderman John "Whitey" Peters served from April 2006 to April 2009 on the Aurora Economic Development Commission Board and from February 2011 to September 2012 on the Aquatics Administrative Board; and

WHEREAS, Alderman Peters has been elected to office by the people of Ward 5 on three consecutive occasions, and has served his constituency with care and understanding over the past twelve years; and

WHEREAS, Alderman Peters has also served the people of Aurora as Township Clerk and as employee of the Fox Valley Park District; and

WHEREAS, Whitey and his wife, Kay have been intimately involved in the Aurora community over the past five decades; and

WHEREAS, Alderman John "Whitey" Peters' friends and colleagues will miss his humor and quick wit along with his wisdom and historical knowledge of Aurora.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, that the entire City Council in the City of Aurora, Illinois, acknowledges the dedication, contributions and accomplishments of John...
