SUBJECT:title

A Parking Study for Wennamacher Avenue in the 900 block for the installation of a Handicap on-street parking space.  Ward 1, Alderman Bohman.

body

PURPOSE:

A Parking Study for 968 Wennamacher Avenue for the installation of an on-street Handicap parking space on Pine Avenue.

BACKGROUND:

A Resident submitted PS # 2150479 requesting an on-street Handicap parking space on Pine Avenue.

DISCUSSION:

The 968 Wennamacher Avenue residence is on the south-west corner of Pine Avenue and Wennamacher Avenue.  The residence fronts Wennamacher Avenue, which is No Parking.  Pine Avenue has curb and gutter on the north side, but only to the west of Wennamacher Avenue on the south side.  The only sidewalk is on the south side of Pine Avenue.  Wennamacher Avenue does not have curb and gutter.  The residence is in the north side of a duplex.  On the south side of the duplex, there is a double garage with a double-wide drive approach and a walkway near the building leading to both the north and south duplex residences.

While this is a duplex, each unit has access to half the driveway and half garage.  Wennemacher restricts parking on the west side if the road due to width of roadway.  There is no accessible sidewalk from Pine St. to the front door but there is from the driveway to the front door.

None of the exceptions are met to establish a handicap parking stall in a residential area.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact based on recommendation
