SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for the Pennsbury Lane and Bennett Place intersection. Ward 10, Alderman Johnson.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for the Pennsbury Lane and Bennett Place intersection to determine the need to change the Yield sign to a Stop sign.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted PS # 2062094 requesting that the Yield sign at the above intersection be replaced with a single Stop sign.
DISCUSSION:
Both roadways are classified as neighborhood residential with a speed limit of 25 mph. Road width is the city standard of 29.5 ft. This is a "T" intersection with Bennett Place being the through street and Pennsbury Lane ending. There is one Yield sign on the Pennsbury Lane northbound approach. With an ADT history of approximately 1,000 vpd on Pennsbury Lane and less than 500 vpd on Bennett Place, the intersection does not meet minimum guidelines for all way stop consideration.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations would be responsible for changing the signage and installing the Stop bar pavement marking.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends replacing the Yield sign with a Stop sign and adding the appropriate Stop Bar pavement marking.
