SUBJECT:title
A Parking Study for Simms Street and Lebanon Street intersection. Ward 4, Alderman Donnell.
body
PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for Simms Street and Lebanon Street intersection to determine proper NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER distances for the new rain gardens.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 123321 requesting parking restrictions be put in place for the Simms Street and Lebanon Street intersection, specifically NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER indications.
DISCUSSION:
There is two-way STOP signage on Lebanon Street approaching Simms Street. Both streets are Residential streets, but Simms Street has a dashed yellow centerline.
The new parking restrictions are requested not to prevent vehicles from parking on the 'bump' side of the rain garden, but the opposite 'flat' side. The 'bump' side of the garden occupies about 18-ft back from the corner, which is the standard distance for NO PARKING HERE TO CORNER restrictions.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations will be required to install signage as recommended.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends 'No parking here to corner' on flat side of bump out intersections at distance outlined in City Ordinance from existing crosswalks.
