TO: Mayor Richard C. Irvin

FROM: Christopher Linville, Superintendent of Fleet Operations

DATE: November 22 2024

SUBJECT:
Vehicle Replacements

PURPOSE:
To ensure that the Aurora Police Department and Property Standards have adequate equipment to perform their duties.

BACKGROUND:
Units 36-419, a 2021 Ford Utility Police Interceptor, 36-404, a 2021 Ford Utility Police Interceptor, and 27-613, a 2016 Ford Focus were each involved in separate accidents. The damages were assessed by the Fleet Maintenance Division along with local auto body repair companies and all three vehicles were determined to be a total loss.

DISCUSSION:
The City of Aurora participates in the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC) for the purchase of replacement and additional vehicles. This program bids vehicles for purchase allowing the city to satisfy our own bidding process with less effort and using a greater purchasing power to get lower prices.

Currie Motors, located at 10125 W. Laraway Rd., Frankfort, IL 60423 has quoted discounted pricing for a Ford Maverick hybrid and is the approved Ford Police Interceptor Utility dealer under SPC contract #204.

Funding to satisfy the cost of the proposed vehicles will be drawn from the City's Property Claims Accounts 601-0000-410.40-76 and 601-0000-410.40-94.

Currie Motors has no outstanding debt with the city.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
N/A

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council adopts a resolution to purchase the replacement police utility interceptors and a replacement vehicle for Property Standards.
