SUBJECT: title
A resolution authorizing the purchase of an annual maintenance contract for the Aurora Fire Department Zetron Fire Station Alerting from Mercury Systems Naperville, Illinois.  Total annual expense of $56,601.81.
body
PURPOSE:
The Zetron Fire Alerting System provides the dispatch tones to each of the fire stations advising the stations to send the appropriate vehicles.  This process is done automatically through CAD (computer aided dispatch) as part of creating a fire incident.

BACKGROUND:
Mercury Systems both provided and has maintained this system since we moved to 1200 E. Indian Trail.  Mercury has provided this service in a professional and timely manner.

DISCUSSION:
The Zetron system was upgraded as part of opening the new Police Department.  Mercury System installed the system.  Maintenance of the system to this point was included in the initial purchase contract.

·      Funding for this contract is in the 2013 Aurora Fire Department budget 101.3033.422.38-03
·      A sole source affidavit is attached
·      Mercury Systems does not have any outstanding debt with the City

IMPACT STATEMENT:
This system is critical for the Aurora Fire Department.  It provides audible tones to each station in the event that they have to respond to an incident.  The speed and capability of this system directly impact response times.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I would recommend the members of City Council authorize the purchase of an annual maintenance contract for Zetron Fire Station Alerting from Mercury Systems, Naperville, Illinois.
