SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for Chase Lane and Foxridge Court for the possibility of installing 25 mph Speed Limit signage. Ward 1 & 10 Alderman Bohman and Alderman Johnson
body
PURPOSE:
To determine the necessity of installing Speed Limit signage on Chase Lane and/or Foxridge Court.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted ACR Case ID 88028 expressing "concerns for drivers speeding" down Chase Lane and Foxridge Court.
DISCUSSION:
This citywide standard in residential areas is 25MPH. The City has intentionally not placed speed limit signs on every residential roadway for purposes of reducing installation and maintenance cost and reduction of roadside clutter. Both segments in question are relatively short with natural traffic calming geometric features. In addition, each area is completely residential in nature avoiding confusion over what the speed limit is. It is staff's opinion that additional speed limit signs will have no impact on the average speeds.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact based on recommendation.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends denial.
