A Resolution appointing Sherrill Dodson-Lewis to the Aurora Housing Authority Board.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Housing Authority Board is seven (7) member board tasked with providing oversight to the Aurora Housing Authority. Commissioners are recommended by the Mayor and approved by the Aurora City Council. The board is currently in need of a new member.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the recommended appointment to the Aurora Housing Authority Board.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the Aurora Housing Authority Board is in need of a new member; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that the recommended candidate be appointed to said board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointment of Sherrill Dodson-Lewis, Aurora IL, to the Aurora Housing Authority Board.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the terms of Sherrill Dodson-Lewis shall expire September 30, 2023, however, in any event, she shall continue to serve until her respective replacement have been approved by the Council.
