SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.
PURPOSE:
To increase the number of Class C - Package Liquor & Class F - Beer and Wine Restaurant licenses by one (1) license for each classification, increasing the total maximum number of Class C licenses to 41, and the number of Class F licenses to 14.
BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.
DISCUSSION:
Roundy's Illinois, LLC., d/b/a Mariano's, located at 3025 E. New York St., has submitted a liquor license application seeking Class C and F licenses for the purpose of selling to the general public alcoholic liquor in original packages only, for consumption off the premises; as well as selling beer and wine by the drink to the general public for consumption on the premises, and in conjunction with the sale of food for consumption on the premises.
Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the licenses by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business representatives to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.
