SUBJECT:

A Resolution appointing Thomas J. Weisner to the Aurora Civic Center Authority board.

 

DISCUSSION:

The Aurora Civic Center Authority is a nine (9) member board tasked with overseeing the historic Paramount Theatre, Copley Theatre and RiverEdge Park. There is currently one vacancy on the board.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the City Council approve the appointment of Thomas J. Weisner to the Aurora Civic Center Authority board.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

 

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and

 

WHEREAS, there is currently a vacancy on the board; and

 

WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that said candidate be appointed.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointments of Thomas J. Weisner, Aurora, IL as a member of the Aurora Civic Center Authority Board.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the term of Thomas J. Weisner shall expire September 30, 2019, however, in any event he shall continue to serve until his respective replacement has been approved by the Council.
