Title: A Traffic Study to review the One-Way stretch of Superior Street and convert it back into a Two-Way Street. Ward 2, Alderman Garza
Sponsors: Public Works
TO:      Mayor Thomas J. Weisner

FROM:      Eric J. Gallt, City Traffic Engineer

DATE:      October 14, 2013

SUBJECT: title
A Traffic Study to review the One-Way stretch of Superior Street and convert it back into a Two-Way Street.  Ward 2, Alderman Garza
body
PURPOSE:
To justify the returning of the 400 block of Superior Street from One-Way East only to Two-Way East-West traffic.

BACKGROUND:
A concerned resident requested the 400 block of Superior Street (from N. Root Street to High Street) be returned to Two-Way traffic.

DISCUSSION:
This stretch of street was made One-Way to assist the pickup and drop-off of students attending St. Nicholas Church School.  Now that the school has closed, there is no longer a need for the 400 block of Superior Street to have a One-Way designation.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Both the signage and street markings would need to be changed to convert the street back to a Two-Way street.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends approval.
