SUBJECT:
A Resolution authorizing the appointment of Michael Carrasco, David Tellner, Curtis Wilson, and Pedro Rodriguez, as well as the re-appointment of Jose Jesus Cervantes and Randy Fisher to the Veterans Advisory Council.

Michael Carrasco is a retired Marine and a retired APD Officer.
David Tellner is a retired Navy and a current employee of the City of Aurora.
Curtis Wilson is a ward 5 resident of Aurora and is very actively within the Aurora community.
Pedro Rodriguez is a retired Marine and retired APD Officer.
Jose Jesus Cervantes has served two terms on the Veterans Advisory Board.
Randy Fisher has served two terms on the Verteran's Advisory Board.

DISCUSSION:
In June of 2021, the City Council approved changes to Chapter 2, which included a sunset provision for all board/commission members. The sunset was included to bring the board/commission terms into compliance with the new dates provided in the ordinance, as well as survey members if they wished to continue to serve or step down.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
