A Traffic Study for Hardin Avenue and S. Elmwood Drive intersection to determine whether to change the Yield Sign to a single Stop sign.
BACKGROUND:
An E-mail was submitted to the Alderman suggesting changing the single Yield sign on Hardin Avenue to a single Stop sign.
DISCUSSION:
Hardin Avenue is classified as a neighborhood residential roadway and has a speed limit of 25 mph. S. Elmwood Drive is classified as a Major Collector with a speed limit of 30 mph. Both are 29.5-ft in width and have curb, gutter, and sidewalk all around.

Adjacent yard landscaping challenges effectiveness of the existing yield sign, for the Hardin Avenue approach to S. Elmwood Drive.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations responsible for yield sign removal and installation of a stop sign with supplemental signage "cross traffic does not stop"
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends replacing yield sign with a stop sign for Hardin Avenue approaching S. Elmwood Drive, with supplemental signage "cross traffic does not stop".
