SUBJECT:
A resolution to authorize the Director of Purchasing to enter into an agreement with WBK Engineering, LLC to perform on-site construction engineering services for the Farnsworth Avenue and Sheffer Road Water Main Replacement Project.
PURPOSE:
To enter into an agreement with WBK Engineering, LLC for the above referenced project.
BACKGROUND:
The sections of water main to be replaced as a part of this project are along Farnsworth Avenue from Sheffer Road to Indian Trail and along Sheffer Road from N. Ohio Street to Farnsworth Avenue. These sections require replacement due to an above average frequency of breaks due to the age and condition of the existing main.
DISCUSSION:
WBK Engineering, LLC proposes to provide on-site construction engineering services in an amount not to exceed $137,230.49. The 2016 budget provides funding for this work in IC076 account #510-4058-511-73-02.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
These improvements are a part of the City's ongoing water main replacement program. Replacement of these sections of water main will reduce the frequency of water main breaks in the area. This will result in lower annual maintenance costs, a reduction in potential for water loss and less interruptions to water service for citizens serviced by these mains.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward this request to the Building, Grounds and Infrastructure Committee for their review and approval.
