Family Focus is requesting permission to stage Roots Aurora on Water Street Mall and in Mundy Park on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.

PURPOSE:
The purpose of Roots Aurora is to promote multicultural awareness and support the programs and services Family Focus provides to the Aurora area.
BACKGROUND:
This is the fourth year for this event which has moved around each year looking for a permanent home.
DISCUSSION:
The event is being moved to downtown to coincide with First Friday and capitalize on the attendance and create synergy. Expected attendance is 1,000, up from last year's 580. A Music Festival Permit is being applied for insurance is being supplied by the City of Aurora through the Neighborhood Festival Funding program.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
There are no City services requested for this event.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
