PURPOSE:
Parking Studies for Marigold Court, Buttercup Court, Goldenrod Court and Sunflower Court, to determine if parking restrictions are needed.
BACKGROUND:
Received a request from the Aurora Street Department, to prohibit parking in the cul-de-sacs, for the four Courts. Street Department snow plows/salt trucks experienced difficulty driving/turning through the Court cul-de-sacs, due to parked vehicles. Street Department further expressed difficulty plowing snow on the Courts due to parked vehicles.
DISCUSSION:
Marigold Court, Buttercup Court, Goldenrod Court and Sunflower Court are classified as residential roadways, approximately 26 feet in width, with a 25 mph speed limit. All Courts end in cul-de-sacs, which occasionally have parked vehicles. There are existing median parking stalls in the cul-de-sac of Marigold, Goldenrod and Sunflower Courts. Staff observed parked vehicles, on occasion, along the outer oval curb line, within the cul-de-sac, for all Courts. There are existing Snow Ordinance No Parking signs at the Buttercup and Sunflower Court intersections with Greenfield Drive.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Street Department and APD resources.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing NO PARKING BETWEEN SIGNS, NO PARKING BETWEEN DRIVEWAYS signage for the Court cul-de-sacs, SNOW ORDINANCE NO PARKING signage at locations shown in the Exhibit. Staff also recommends APD random, selective parking enforcement.
