PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for installation of a Handicap Parking Space on Hammond Avenue to serve a tenant in the building on the southeast corner of Hammond Avenue and W. Illinois Avenue intersection.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted PS # 1878110 requesting an on-street Handicap parking space on Hammond Avenue.
DISCUSSION:
The building is on a corner, with NO PARKING allowed on W. Illinois Avenue, and a Yellow Curb for the entire length of the building on Hammond Avenue. The nearest location for the space would be in front of the neighbor to the south: 647 Hammond Avenue. The tenant has a long ramp leading from the rear of the building to the sidewalk on Hammond Avenue. The building does not have on-property parking off W. Illinois Avenue or off Hammond Avenue. Given no driveway access on street parking is the only alternative meeting the minimum requirements for residential area designated handicap approval.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations would be responsible for installing the Handicap Parking Space.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing a Handicap Parking Space in front of 647 Hammond Avenue.
