body
PURPOSE:
Granger Middle School is requesting permission to hold its proposed Roaring 5K throughout the Stonebridge neighborhood of Aurora to raise educational funds for students.
BACKGROUND:
In past years, Granger Middle School organized the Grizzly Gallop 5K and Brooks Elementary School organized the Nik Kot 5k events held surrounding the schools in the Stonebridge neighborhood. Although for the past several years the events have not been held, previously the events attracted hundreds of participants each.
DISCUSSION:
Organizers from both Granger Middle School and Brooks Elementary School and past Grizzly Gallop and Nik Kot 5K organizers are working together to bring a 5K back to the neighborhood. The organizers are expecting 1000 people to participate in this proposed event and 100 staff/volunteers to help. The Certificate of Insurance (COI) for the event expires on 7/1/16 and a new COI will need to be submitted to the City in a timely manner prior to the event.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Services will be needed from the Aurora Police Department Traffic Control Division and from the Street Maintenance Division for barricades and cones.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for approval.i
