SUBJECT:
A resolution to award the N. Fordham Ave. Water Main Replacement project, located in Ward 6, to Gerardi Sewer & Water, Co., in the bid amount of $1,101,195.00.
PURPOSE:
To replace the existing water main in the area which has a history of frequent breaks.
BACKGROUND:
The location of the water main to be replaced can be seen in the attachment, Exhibit A - Engineering Plan Set. Water services from the existing water main will be replaced and switched over to the new main, most of which are currently lead service lines and will be fully replaced to the meter with homeowner approval.
DISCUSSION:
A total of nine bids were received, opened, and reviewed on April 15, 2026. The lowest bid came in at 8.67% lower than the Engineer's estimate. Attached are Exhibits B & C, the posted bid document and the bid tabulation. Gerardi Sewer & Water, Co.'s submitted bid can be seen in the attached Exhibit D, and their verification of good standing in Exhibit E. The lowest responsible bid received was in the amount of $1,101,195.00 by Gerardi Sewer & Water, Co. The water main improvements will be funded with account 510-4058-511-73-02 (IC076 & IC080) which has a 2026 total budgeted amount of $5,250,000.00 (IC076) & $7,500,000 (IC080).
This project was subject to the Local Preference Ordinance, however no local contractors submitted.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
There may be lane closures during the duration of the project. General impacts to traffic and residents will be kept to a minimum with lifted parking restrictions as required. Water shutdowns during the project will be planned and coordinated with the residents affected.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed resolution awarding the N. Fordham Ave. Water Main Replacement contract to Gerardi Sewer & Water, Co. in the bid amount of $1,101,195.00 be adopted.
