SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.

PURPOSE:
To increase the number of Class G-1 (Package beer and wine license, gasoline sales) Licenses to a total number of Class G-1 licenses of 15.

BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.

DISCUSSION:
7-Eleven #33064C, located at 2411 W. Sullivan Road, Aurora, IL 60506 has submitted a liquor license application for a Class G-1 license for the purpose of selling to the general public beer and wine in original packages only, for consumption off the premises where sold, only during the time that gasoline is also sold.

Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the licenses by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business representatives to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met. 7-Eleven #33064C represents new ownership of the 7-Eleven currently licensed at 2411 W. Sullivan Road.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am recommending that this resolution be forwarded to Committee of the Whole by the Public Health, Safety and Transportation Committee for consideration at its meeting to be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
